F1-Inspired FX: Infiniti Releases Photo of Vettel’s Tweaked FX Crossover

Infiniti-FX-Performance-Concept-front-three-quarter
teaser video from Infiniti told us that Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel was helping style a new concept vehicle for the Frankfurt Motor ShowInfiniti today released the first real photo of the modified “performance concept,” which is based off the 2012 FX Crossover.
Changes applied to the car apparently consist of carbon-fiber mirrors, new wheels, a large rear wing, a new front lip, new side skirts, and a tweaked front fascia with LED running lights. There’s also, of course, a chrome Vettel badge on the crossover’s front fender.
An earlier teaser video also promised a matte-gray interior and a steering wheel that was less “normal.” That may mean the Infiniti’s wheel will score an array of buttons and flashing lights like the expensive steering wheels in Formula 1 cars.
There’s still no word as to whether this modified Infiniti is a prelude to a new production model, or whether there are any performance upgrades in store for the car. We’ll find out more on September 13 in Frankfurt.

Hard to believe it's May already, we are fast approaching June and the midway point of 2011. Soon school will be out, the kids will be home and thoughts will be turning to family outings and vacations. So whether you prefer sunsets in the Appalachians or sunrise on the coast, your car will most likely be the way you get there. With the weather changing, now would be a good time to take a few minutes and give your family vehicle a good once over and make sure it is ready for the fun, there is not much worse than getting that phone call saying we are stuck because of a hose or belt that was easily replaceable at home, well except for the AC going out with 3-4 hours to go to get home in a car full of kids and beach stuff, trust me on that one. Plus a properly maintained vehicle will get better gas mileage, a very important item with gas prices at all time highs. With that in mind lets run through a few items that will help keep you safe and confident in your vehicle through the summer months.

Tires were the rubber meets the road, one of the most important items from both a safety and fuel savings standpoint and also one of the items we wait the longest to replace. Tires should be checked monthly for proper inflation, tires that are under or over inflated are one of the greatest causes of improper tire wear, having the proper tire pressure is a crucial safety issue. Next to the brakes, the tires are the most important safety devices on your car. Incorrect tire pressure will compromise cornering, braking and stability. And in the worst-case scenario, improper tire pressure can lead to tire failure ? and a serious accident. Incorrect tire pressure also will affect your comfort, fuel economy and tire life.
Tires should be replaced at or before they reach the wear bars on the tire or they have 4/32 or less of tread remaining, with the amount of rain we get from summer storms and standing water on the hwy, hydroplaning is a dangerous possibility, half worn tires have a danger of hydroplaning at 3-4 mph lower than full tread tires.*

Brake Pads are a normal wear item and have a variable life depending on driving habits and conditions, a more aggressive driver will get less miles from a set of pads than a more conservative driver under normal conditions, resting your foot on the brake pedal will wear out pads quickly as well as overheating the pads on long down hill portions of road way. Have them checked at regular oil changes so you can keep track of your brake pad wear. If you hear grinding or unusual noises when braking have them checked and replaced if necessary, driving with worn out brakes is not only dangerous but will cause the Brake
rotors to be scarred and they will need to be turned or replaced, a charge you can possibly avoid with good maintenance.

Under the hood, regular oil changes will keep you engine running clean and lessen the chance of sludge build up, while the oil and filter are being changed this is a great time to check not only the brake pads but also the fluids in your car, in just a few minutes a visual inspection of the brake fluid, steering fluid, engine coolant and windshield washer fluid can save you time and effort while traveling, no one wants to deal with this stuff when you should be having fun. At the same time it is good to check all the belts and hoses for cracking and dry rot, if the have not been replaced in 3-4 years now may be the time. Air filters and cabin filters need to be checked and replaced at regular intervals and if you car is several years old not a bad idea to have the AC and battery checked.

Keeping your cars interior and exterior clean and free from bird droppings, tree sap and other environmental conditions as well as the occasional French fry between the seats will help you keep an eye on any potential problems, plus a well maintained car is always worth more to you when it comes time to start thinking about replacing it.

By now I guess you have seen the TV ads for the new M35h hybrid sedan , if not you can see it now by clicking on the video to the right.

Well I just drove the new M Hybrid and wow what a car, I have driven other hybrids from other manufactures and they were ok but you definitely knew they were hybrids. The M35h is on a whole different level. Fact is, if I did not know it was a hybrid and it did not have the battery read out, I would have never guessed it was a hybrid until I came to that first stop light and had total silence, kind of eerie for someone who grew up in the muscle car era. So now we have this 360 HP hybrid sedan that gets 30mpg and it is fantastic to drive plus if you have never been in the M sedan it is just beautiful, every time I get in one I just want to touch the interior wood grain and admire the level of detail in the leather seats and the ergonomics of the dash and controls. So I would like to invite you to come and see this car or any of the Infiniti brand vehicles at Bradshaw Infiniti , Inspired Performance is not just a slogan, it is Infiniti.
